Louis Tesmer

Louis “Louie” Tesmer, 92, of Plainview and formerly of Zumbro Falls, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020 at Green Prairie Rehabilitation Center in Plainview. He was born November 10, 1927 in Millville to Ernest and Louisa (Krueger) Tesmer. Louie grew up in rural Millville and attended school at Wabasha County District #24. On September 29, 1951 he married DeLoris Fuller at the Congregational Church of Christ in Rochester.

Louie lived in rural Zumbro Falls from 1966 to 2019 when he and DeLoris moved to Plainview. He worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad on the maintenance crew for 21 years from 1968 to 1989. Louie also drove cars for Rochester Ford, Rochester Toyota, and Clements in Rochester. His favorite past-time was going to garage sales and attending auctions.

Louie is survived by his loving wife of 68+ years, DeLoris Tesmer of Plainview; two daughters, Cathy (Don) Schleck of Altura, and Dawn (Glenn) Shones of Plainview; a son, Cary (Dixie) Tesmer of Warba, MN; seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and six step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Wanda Ottoson of Red Wing; a brother, Edward Tesmer of Lake City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Brenda and Melody, a son, Charles, eight brothers, Alfred, Carl, Walter, George, Allen, Larry, Ernie, and Russell; and a sister, Hazel.

A Celebration of Life Service and visitation will be held for Louie starting with a visitation at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 18 at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel, with Pastor Colleen Hoeft officiating. The Tesmer Family requests everyone to wear a mask that attends the visitation and service, and follow the COVID-19 guidelines. Burial will be on Monday, July 20, at 10:00 a.m. at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.

Memorials are preferred in memory of Louis to Zumbro Valley Food Shelf, or to donor’s choice.
