Maxine Janice Kemnitz

Maxine Janice Kemnitz, 81, of Eyota and formerly of Rochester, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021 at Gunderson St. Elizabeth Hospital in Wabasha. She was born June 11, 1939 in Rochester to Edgar and Henrietta (Henke) Siem. Maxine attended Farm Hill District #78 School for the early years of her education, she went on to attend Trinity Lutheran School in Rochester and graduated from Rochester High School in 1957. On September 18, 1965 she married Jerry Kemnitz at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester.
The Kemnitz farmed and raised their five children in rural Rochester. Maxine was a cook at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester for many years, she also worked as a waitress at the Ponderosa Supper Club and Fisherman’s Inn. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church – Potsdam.
Maxine is survived by her children, Tracie (Jamison) Henning of Oronoco, Nicole Kemnitz of Eyota, Kristine (Brent) Mischke of Theilman, Troy (Gwen) Kemnitz of Surprise, AZ, and Trent Kemnitz of Eyota; six grandchildren, Nicholas and Connor Kemnitz, Anika, Ava, and Colton Henning, and Sawyer Mischke; a sister, Patricia (Ray) Hart, and a brother, Richard (Sharon) Siem both of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jerry on June 7, 1983, a sister, Rosalee, a brother, Roger, and a nephew, Douglas Siem.
A walk-through visitation was held on Friday, May 7, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel. The funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, at Immanuel Lutheran Church – Potsdam, in rural Elgin with Pastor Dale Kohrs officiating. A visitation will began at 10:00 a.m. at the church on Saturday. Burial will followed the service in the church cemetery. Masks are required for all services and please practice social distancing.
