Patricia “Pat” Hoekstra

A Celebration of Life Gathering for Patricia “Pat” Hoekstra will be on Saturday, October 1, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview with a Prayer Service at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Phil Augustine officiating. Burial will be in St. Joachim’s Catholic Cemetery in Plainview at a later date.

Mrs. Hoekstra, 88, of Plainview, passed away Saturday evening, September 24, 2016, at Green Prairie Rehabilitation and Assisted Living Campus in Plainview.

Patricia Ann Costello was born April 22, 1928, in St. Paul to Robert and Elizabeth (Chapin) Costello. She grew up in St. Paul attending parochial schools and graduated from Washington High School in St. Paul in 1946. On January 21, 1949, she married Charles Hoekstra in Brookings, SD, he died November 11, 2015.

After their marriage, they moved to Forest Lake, MN and in 1953 they moved to Plainview. Pat enjoyed raising their family of eight children. She also loved to garden and her flowers, and especially enjoyed growing peonies. Pat also liked to spend time reading, working crossword puzzles, and going fishing.

Pat is survived two daughters, Jeannie Donahue of Plainview, and Mary (Monty) Culbertson of Howard Grove, WI; six sons, Charles Robert “Bob” (Beth) Hoekstra of Hampton, MN, Thomas (Lisa) Hoekstra and James (Penny) Hoekstra both of Plainview, Michael (Debra) Hoekstra of St. Charles, Randy (Vickie) Hoekstra of Lewiston, and Richard Hoekstra of Plainview; 27 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Ann) Costello of Eagles Grove, WI; and one sister, Maureen Hildreth of Vancouver, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters, Marilyn and Eileen.

Memorials are preferred to Seasons Hospice or “Friends of Seniors.”
