RALPH TODD

On July 25, 2021, Ralph J. Todd, at the age of 86, entered into the presence of his savior and no doubt heard “Welcome. Enter. Well done.” Ralph is survived by the love of his life for 62 years, his Scottish lassie, Jessie; their children, Kevin (Brenda) of West Chicago, Illinois, and their children Jessie, Blythe, Grace, and Jacob; Edward Murray (Kerry) of Rochester and their children Patrick, Thomas, Erin, and Matthew; Alex (Kristin) of Plainview and their daughter Ruthie; and Faith (Scott) Allman and their daughters Leah and Camille of Naperville, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, Newell and Olivia, Harry Schuchard who became a father to him, and brother James (Catherine) and sister Mary Ellen (Dean) Kinyon.
Ralph was born on June 7, 1935, in Plainview, where he later returned to raise his family before moving to Rochester in 2012 to be closer to sons Edward and Alex, and his church Autumn Ridge. A graduate of Plainview High School, Minnesota Business College, and Mankato State University, Ralph spent his career as an auditor for the Minnesota Department of Revenue. He loved dogs, sports, gospel music, driving, pizza, reading his Bible, and all things Scottish.
His life was characterized by service, kindness, and sacrificial generosity to family, friends, and strangers. He was godly and humble, and he exhibited quiet strength, good humor, and dignity without pretense. He lived a life of faithful and joyful service to God. This faith led him into child evangelism and church bus ministry, where his greatest joy was to see children discover the love of Jesus. He had a tender heart for “the least of these” which also led him into pro-life activities. He practiced what he preached.
He lived out a long obedience in the same direction and he has now reached his rest, and his joy is complete. A visitation was held at Schleicher Funeral Home in Plainview from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 1, 2021, and at Autumn Ridge Church at 10:00 a.m. on August 2, 2021, with Ralph’s memorial service to follow at the church at 11:00 a.m. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview later in the afternoon on Monday.
