Random Acts of Kindness, the 100“ish” Day of School, February Birthdays and “I Love to Read” Month....It’s all A-Go This Week

By Josh Hall, Staff Writer
Starting the morning off with a little burst of energy with the dance to show that I’m alive, alert, awake, enthusiastic (which I don’t think I will EVER get the actions down for that one), everyone stood to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mr. Donze then discussed the importance of keeping each other safe. Last week showed a lot of “accidents” throughout the week. Many happening on the playground, but some inside. Quite a few bloody noses and bonked heads... As an example of an avoidable “accident”, Mr. Donze used the scenario for the students, “If I was running down the hallways as fast as I can, and I came around the corner and ran right into someone and we bonked heads, it is an accident, but it’s one that could have been avoided.” It’s not only about keeping yourself safe, but it’s about keeping EVERYONE safe. They all repeated the “Bulldog Way”: "We are Bulldogs. We are Respectful. We are Responsible. We keep each other Safe."
Next up on the “agenda” for the morning was chanting out the February birthdays! For such a short month, there sure were a lot of birthdays - 35 to be exact!!! And they are ALL pictured! Happy Birthday, February! Since next Monday, February 16th is Presidents’ Day, there is no Monday Morning Meeting, but during the meeting on the 23rd, Mr. Donze will be celebrating the July birthdays and at the end of March, the August birthdays. So do not fret summer birthdays, you will not go unnoticed!
In celebration of both “I Love To Read” month and the 100th day of school, Mr. Donze read the book “Jake’s 100th Day of School” by Lester L. Laminack for the class, using his phone to project the pictures onto the wall for everyone to see. It’s a story about a boy named Jake who “is so excited about his 100th day of school that he rushes to catch the school bus, leaving behind his project. With the help of his principal, Jake is able to find a perfect substitute for his project.” - www.arbookfind.com
With all that happened today, I think everyone was excited to start the week, starting by keeping each other safe, be it on the playground, in the hallways and in the classrooms!
