Roger Bruemmer

Roger Edward Bruemmer, age 81, of Elgin, MN, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and faithful servant, moved on to his heavenly home on December 10, 2015.

Roger was born to Edward and Blanche (Preston) Bruemmer on April 2, 1934. He lived on their rural Elgin farm and graduated from Elgin High School in 1952. He attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, graduating in 1954, and continued to work in the city until marrying Shirley Brehmer in Potsdam on February 12, 1955. He served in the Army from 1955-57, spending one year in Germany. After starting a family and moving back to Elgin, he founded Bruemmer Woodworking in 1964. After retirement, he and Shirley traveled the country in their fifth wheel, hiking, golfing, and biking and spending winters in Benson and Casa Grande, AZ.

In addition to his skills as a master woodworker, Roger was an active beekeeper, photographer, polka dancer, root beer brewer, popcorn connoisseur, and friend of Bill W.
The memory of his wit, humor, love of life and kindness will stay with all who loved him.

He will be deeply missed by the love of his life, his wife of 60 years, Shirley. He is also survived by five children, Dawn (Bill) Dieter of Falcon, CO, Dean (Jane) of Silver City, NM, Rebecca (Jerry) Reiter of New London, MN, Jennifer (Tom Woldum) Wagner of Minneapolis, MN, and Wesley (Debra) of Elgin; brother, Keith (Maxine) of Elgin; 15 grandchildren, Brenna (Tony) LeDoux, Michael (Kelly) Dieter, Joe, Max and Isaac Bruemmer, Jacob (Ashley), Luke, John and Nicholas Reiter, Peter (Megan) Wagner, Rachel (Gregory) Mosley, Sarah (Jon) Esch and Meredith Wagner, Nicole (Cody) Kolar and Dan Bruemmer, and three great-grandchildren, Jonah, Kale and Olive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Marcella, and in-laws, Albert and Clara Brehmer.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 17, 5-8 pm at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview. A service to celebrate Roger’s life will be held on Friday, December 18, at 11:00 am, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin will Rev. Terrill Bramstedt officiating. Interment is at the Elgin Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Green Prairie Place, Plainview, MN. **Keep Smiling!**
