Ruth Ann Dessner

Ruth Ann Dessner, 85, of Elgin, passed away on Friday afternoon, September 29, 2023, at the Seasons Hospice House in Rochester with her family by her side. She was born on April 3, 1938, in Elgin to Thomas and Florence (DeWitz) Richardson. She attended school in Elgin, graduating from Elgin High School in 1956. On August 30, 1956, she married the love of her life Frederick Dessner in Elgin.
Ruth lived her entire lifetime in Elgin. She operated a Day Care for 46 years in Elgin. Ruth enjoyed spending time reading, watching the Hallmark Channel, doing word search puzzles, gardening and loved watching sports, she was a true Purple Viking Fan. Ruth was a member of Peace United Methodist Church of Elgin/Plainview where she participated in many Bible Studies, she was also a member of the Eastern Star.
Ruth is survived by her children, Vicki (Ross) Rathbun of Elgin; Darrel (Angie) Dessner of Elgin, Scott (Ann) Dessner of Rochester, Paul (Jennifer) Dessner of Eyota, and James (Tanya) Dessner of Eyota; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, two sisters, four brothers, and one great-granddaughter.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Peace United Methodist Church in rural Elgin/Plainview, with Pastor Abigail Ozanne officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Elgin Cemetery. Friends and family may visit on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
