Skylar Thomas Slawson-Helgeson

Skylar Thomas Slawson-Helgeson, age 24, of Plainview, MN, passed away unexpectedly on May 31, 2025.
Born on November 20, 2000, Skylar was known by all who met him for his contagious smile, boundless energy, and joyful spirit. He had a way of lighting up every room he entered and was always ready to lend a hand, share a laugh, or simply be present with those he cared about.
Skylar had a deep love for the outdoors and found peace and freedom in nature—whether he was out on a trail, working with his hands, or simply enjoying the fresh air. He was passionate about welding, taking pride in creating and fixing things with skill and care. His eyes would light up when he talked about old cars. But it was more than just joy; he had an admiration for the creativity and dedication old cars needed to become truly custom, and truly his own. This wasn’t just a hobby or a desire to craft custom cars into his own; he turned it into his career. Not only did Skylar excel in his dedication to being a truly custom builder, he also served as a foreman, helping run a company that built custom headers for exacting customers around the world.
His happy personality, strong work ethic, and ability to find joy in the simple things made him a friend to many and a source of strength to those closest to him.
Skylar is survived by his mother, Peggy Slawson; father, Tom Helgeson, and significant other, Debbie; his sister, Chelsie (Aaron) Gillen; brothers, Trent (Brittany) Churchill and Cameran Helgeson; grandparents, Gary and Janice (Rabehl) Slawson; nieces, Scarlett and Kinsley; nephew, Leo; as well as uncles, an aunt, many cousins, extended family members, and close friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Charlotte Ann Helgeson-Ronning, lovingly known as “Nana.”
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 7, at the Millville Valley Legion from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to come share memories, laughter, and love in honor of Skylar’s life and the joy he brought to so many.
