Thomas John “Tom” Petit
Thomas John “Tom” Petit passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, at the age of 74. He was born October 20, 1950, in Wabasha, Minnesota.
Tom proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he earned the rank of Sergeant and many medals before his honorable discharge. He later built a respected career in construction, serving as Vice President of Belair Construction and as Superintendent at Gilbert Contracting, Inc.
Tom loved cheering for the Rockies, playing golf, hunting, fishing, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He also enjoyed family barbecues and competitive cornhole. Known for his wisdom, generosity, and ability to fix anything, he will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend.
Tom is survived by his wife of 51 years, Catherine Petit; daughters Cheri (Chris) Brennan and Christine (Kelli) Petit; grandchildren Tyler (Ashleigh) Birkholtz and Julia Birkholtz; his mother, Marylou Petit; and siblings Janet (Steve) Strauss, Deb (Mike) Strauss, Julie Thomsen, Paul Petit, Michelle (James) Bertrand, Heather (Hector) Morvari, Lea (John) Stocke, Lesa Paulson, Kim (Lynne) Gosselin, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Petit.
A private burial will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
