Thomas M. “Tom” Eversman Sr.

Thomas M. “Tom” Eversman Sr. 71, of Plainview, died Monday, May 9 at Mayo Cinic Hospital-St. Mary's Campus, Rochester. He was born August 16, 1944, in Wabasha, the son of Leo and Loretta (Klees) Eversman. After graduating from St. Felix High School in 1962, Tom worked at Lakeside Canning Factory than as manager of High Plains Hardware store for 40 years. He married Bonnie A. Wheeler December 29, 1962 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Kellogg. In 1997, his wife Bonnie died and Tom remarried Penny Thompson on January 8, 1999 in Plainview. From 2003 to 2006 Tom worked at Woodruff Company then retired to do his dream job of farming. Tom was a member of the Greenwood Prairie Classic tractor Club.
Tom is survived by wife Penny, children and spouses, son Thomas Jr. and Lori Haugen of Rushford; Timothy and daughter-in-law Dorie of Zumbro Falls; Tony and daughter-in-law Shelly of Plainview; daughters Tanya Jensen of Plainview MN and Amanda Eversman of Minneapolis MN; Step-daughters Allison Kinzer of Rochester MN and Sara Czapiewski of Plainview MN. He is also survived by grandchildren and their spouses; Stephanie and Andy Barnes of Plainview MN, Brittany Eversman of Gillett WI, Melissa and Terry Krusmark of Plainview MN, Michael Eversman (Trisha Erickson) of Red Wing MN, Patrick and Jasmine Eversman of Sartell, MN; Nicholas, Benjamin and Abigail Eversman and Jordan & Cody Jensen all from Plainview MN, and step-grandson Jacob Kinzer of Rochester MN. He is also survived by 6 great-grand-children. Sisters and brothers-in-laws, Margaret Mullenbach, St Ansgar IA, Janice and Roger Wise, Wabasha MN. Marilyn and Tom Crowley, Kellogg MN, Diane Hohberger of Rochester MN, Denise and Mark Jacobs, Plainview MN, brothers and sisters-in-law, Don Eversman, Kellogg MN, Cindy Eversman of Kellogg MN, Mike and Karen Eversman, Plainview MN, Jim and Judy Eversman, Kellogg MN. He is proceded in death by his parents, one grandson Carter Eversman, one sister Jean Stopski, one brother Tim Eversman, three brother-in-laws, Noel Hohberger, Duane Mullenbauch, and John Stopski, one sister-in-law Mary Eversman.
Tom will be missed by many. Though his hobbies were few, he was one of the hardest working men you would ever meet. He was at his happiest in the combine with a field full of corn. His sarcastic comments and surprise wet willies will forever be missed.
A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, May 13, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Church at 11:00 a.m. in rural Kellogg MN with Father William Becker officiating. Interment will be Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery at Conception. Visitation is Thursday, 5-8 pm at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
