Wesley Lyle Moore

Wesley Lyle Moore, 94, of St. Charles and formerly of Elgin, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023, at Whitewater Health Services in St. Charles. He was born August 19, 1929, in Dover Township, Olmsted County, Minnesota to Darrell and Leona (Green) Moore. Wesley attended school in Plainview. He went on to serve his country during the Korean Conflict as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army from June 1950 to June 1958. On June 26, 1954, he married Janet Tradup at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin.
Wesley lived most of his lifetime in the Elgin area where he was employed as a milk truck driver, served as a part-time Police Office, a volunteer fireman, a truck driver for All American Co-op and farmed. He always enjoyed taking time to go fishing, hunting, and trapping, working in his garden, and loved to play a game of 500. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin, the Elgin Rod and Gun Club, and Ducks Unlimited.
Wesley is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Janet Moore of St. Charles; children, Kristine “Kris” (Gene) Schmit and Debra (David) Johnson both of Elgin, Patricia (Bob) Barrone of Dover, Nancy (Brett) Moore – Corson of Wykoff, Barbara (Sonny) Schmit of Aurora, Scott (Kelly Mae) Moore of Winona, and Daniel (Pamela) Moore of Hot Springs Village, AR; 20 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; and one brother Ronald (Nada) Moore of Hager City, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Amanda Jean Johnson, grandson Anthony Barrone, brother-in-law, Paul Tradup, sister-in-law, Joanne Beaman, and brother-in-law, Charles Tradup.
A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin with Pastor Josh Moldenhauer officiating. Burial will follow the service in Elgin Cemetery with Military Rites by the Elgin American Legion Post #573. A visitation for friends and family was held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
