Ballot set for spring election in E-S School District

CENTRAL - The ballot for the Eleva-Strum School Board election on April 4 was set by the School Board during its January meeting held on the 10th at the Central School Building IMC.

The ballot placements will be in this order after lots were drawn:
1. Amanda Neckar
2. Kristen Amundson Husby

Both are current incumbents on the school board.

In personnel matters, the Board accepted the resignation of Aaron Roemhild, Middle School Track Coach and approved the hire of Sue Emerson, Special Education Paraprofessional. .

Superintendent Kulig led a discussion on the Solar Proposal from CESA 10 on the installation of a solar electricity grid system. No action was taken and the topic will come up at the Board's next meeting for further review.

In other agenda items, the Board approved the school calendar for 2024-25, approved the wrestling cooperative with Mondovi for the 2024-25 season, approved the 2022-23 district audit and approved a motion to offer a $500 stipend to certified teaching staff that submit a letter of retirement by February 1, and a $250 stipend if submitted by March 1 of the year they plan to retire.

Open enrollment for special education students was also a topic on the Board's agenda. After some discussion a motion was approved for the following open enrollment caps:
to set open enrollment caps for the 2024-25 school year:
• General education: no caps
• Special education: cap of 60 Pre-K through 12th Grade
• Speech and language: cap of 45 Pre-K through 12th Grade

The Board went into closed session to discuss administrative personnel evaluation. They came out of closed session and took no action.
