Charles Dahl
Charles Almain Dahl, 85, of Osseo, formerly of Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, March 26, 2016 at his home, in the care of his family and MCHS – Home Health and Hospice.
Charles was born May 5, 1930 in Whitehall, WI to Oscar C. and Myrtle (Berg) Dahl.
Charles married Violet Thompson on June 21, 1952 in Whitehall. Following her death, he married Colleen “Toni” Hudson-Mattson on July 7, 1984 in Osseo.
As a young man Chuck worked on the family farm in rural Whitehall. He drove semi delivering cars for JATCO (Janesville Auto Transport Co.) in Janesville. Eventually he was transferred to Dilworth, MN in the 1960’s, retiring after 30 years.
He enjoyed fishing, living at Lee Lake in Hawley, MN, singing and was an avid sports fan; watching the Minnesota Vikings, Twins, and Gophers. Charles drove stock cars at FM Speedway in Glydon and followed NASCAR. For several years they traveled south to Arizona for the winter.
Charles is survived by his wife Toni; sons, Sheldon (Barb) Dahl of Sabin, MN, Danny Dahl of Moorhead, MN and Randy (Kristi) Dahl of Moorhead, MN; one daughter, Kim (Steve) Bosak of Moorhead, MN; stepchildren, Charles (Patti) VanBlaricom of Osseo, Del (Joni) VanBlaricom of Osseo, Greg (Bonnie) VanBlaricom of Janesville, Coco Olson of Osseo and Denise (Eric) Johnson of Osseo; one brother, Ernie (Sherrill) Dahl of Janesville; three sisters, Edith Amundson of Osseo, Arline Stuve of Pleasantville and Gladys Sibley of La Crosse; sister-in-law, Eileen Dahl of Endicott, NY; 14 grandchildren, Lisa Menne, Christopher Dahl, Steven Dahl, Derek Dahl, Michelle Dahl, Kayla Bosak, Jenna Bosak, Danielle Bosak, Sam VanBlaricom, David VanBlaricom, Trent Olson, Laura Olson, Dustin Johnson and Brianna Kraft; seven great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Violet, he was preceded in death by a son Steven Dahl, a brother Russell, a sister, Margaret Sielaff, and a son-in-law, Butch Olson.
The family would like to thank Niki Elz and Justina Zimmerman for the wonderful care they had given Chuck through the years.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 1, at Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church in Osseo. Rev. Tom Brian officiated. Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery in Moorhead, MN.
Friends called from 4-7 p.m., Thursday at Schiefelbein Funeral Home in Osseo. Friends also called from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Friday.
