Eleva-Strum track to take sizeable contingent to sectional meet

MONDOVI - Eleva-Strum placed fourth in the girls team standings and seventh in boys at the WIAA Division 3 Mondovi Regional Mete held on Monday, June 14.

Central will have a sizeable contingent competing in sectionals and had several winners as well. The top four athletes in all events qualify.

The Cardinals' Jaden Bautch, a sophomore, was the regional champion in the 100-meter dash in :13.48 seconds and did the same in the shot put with a toss of 31-7. Her teammate, freshman Kassidy Koxlien, won the regional title in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet even. Also qualifying for sectionals for the E-S girls were junior Laney Windjue, third in the discus; junior Madison Schultz, second in the triple jump, the 400-meter relay team, second; freshman Annika Skoug in the 200, fourth.

The Central boys will send to sectionals Wyatt Miland after he finished third in 100. Charlie Dyar will go in the 200 after finishing second. Senior Mitchell Olson placed third and fourth in the shot put and discus to qualify and the Cardinals also qualified their 400 and 1600 relay teams as they both placed fourth.

Also scoring points for E-S were freshman Avarie Segerstrom, sixth in the 100; Koxlien, sixth in the 200; freshman Anabel Howie, fifth in the 800; Skoug, fifth in the long jump; junior Garrett Zimpel, seventh in the pole vault and Miland, fifth in the triple jump.

Osseo-Fairchild finished 11th both team standings.

The Thunder will have two entries for girls' for sectionals: junior Mariah Steinke in the shot put after finishing third and the Thunder's 800-meter relay team, fourth. Also scoring for O-F in the girls' meet were sophomore Taylor Hammer, eighth in the 200; junior Rylee Bratina, eighth in the 800 and seventh in the 1600; the 400-meter relay team, fifth and freshman Hayden Vold in the long jump, seventh.

The OFHS boys had points from freshman Mason Scheffer, seventh in the 110-meter high hurdles and the Thunder boys' 400-meter relay team, also seventh.
