HHixton Volunteer Fire Department holds successful third annual dinner/dance
HIXTON - What an AMAZING community we live in!! No words can describe how thankful we are for the continued support. So said, Fire Chief Tom Davidson after the Hixton Volunteer Fire Department’s 3rd Annual Dinner and Dance” He continued, “Everything went perfectly! We were able to serve approximately 772 people! Not bad for a town of 400!”
The event, held last week Friday, July 10th featured Charcoal Chicken or Pulled Pork dinners with all the fix’ns for a free will offering. and remembering the yummy food from years’ past, folks didn’t mind standing in line when they knew what would be waiting for them. Local wines and Sand Creek beer on tap were available to cool down the heat of the evening. Fire truck and wagon rides were enjoyed.
Music from Uncle Ron who played from 7 until midnight, got toes tappin’ , taking a break at 9 pm to announce the raffle drawings. There were some pretty happy raffle winners: $2,000 - Annette Blanchard, Northfield, $1,000 - Betsy Jennings - Hixton, $500 - Matt Wojtyla, Millston and Brad Verken, Jr - Hixton, $250 - Hannah Tubbs, Hixton and Ray Laufenberg, Hixton. $50 - Elaine Schwartz, Mineral Point, Sam Overlien, Black River Falls, Randy Johnson, Hixton, Kristen Kelly, Hatfield, Allison Gerke - Hixton, Jody Stoker - Black River Falls, Mary Bearfield - Black River Falls, Cathy Syverson - Merrillan, Matt Prince - Bloomer and Dawn Wojtyla - Millston.
A colorful display of fireworks closing the evening was enjoyed by all, donated by the Hixton Travel Plaza and Firework Liquidators of Cadott.
This year’s fundraiser was geared toward personal protective equipment for Hixton’s volunteer firefighters. Chief Davidson summed it up by saying “Thanks to everyone who went above and beyond to help make the evening a success. And he repeated, “Our community is so amazing!”
