Hixton HYO Halloween - Party Like You Mean It!

HIXTON - If the title is true, then Hixton Youth Organization has been "meaning it" for their Children's Halloween Party for over 25 years. This year's party was no exception.

From 50-60 kids and their families arrived at the Hixton Village Hall and were greeted by friendly operators at decorated game stations where the kids could try out their skills, walking away with treats for their efforts. Cain's Apples, generously donated every year are always a popular item. After going through the games, those hungry for anything not sugar grabbed over 70 hot dogs and cocoa that were available for a free will donation in the garage, where everyone could gather, catch up with their neighbors, and take a look at the decorated pumpkins waiting for the results of the annual decorating contest.

The Hixton Youth Organization is grateful to the Village of Hixton for not only providing a venue, but also funding the event by way of Cans for Kids. All the folks who donate their cans to Cans for Kids are much appreciated as well. This year's party a success was due to the several who donated and volunteered to assist--Genell Severson, Mary Sedelbauer Emma, Matt, Evelyn and Henry Karls, Hixton Fireman Queen Nora Gerke and court, Wynona and Serraphina Heard, Jesody and Xylr Heller, Ella, Ben and Maritere Sedelbauer, Ruth Swenson, Cain's Orchard, Steve Kirschner, and the Village of Hixton, as well as all the adults who helped clean up the garage after everyone. With everyone's help, it was a party to remember, just like the very first one, and well into the future.

There was lots of trick or treating going on in the area. This is Hixton's version of Trunk or Treat. All sorts of cleverly costumed littles were invited over for candy and treats from Jensen Towing, Cobblestone Cottage, Hixton Fire & Rescue, Hixton EMS, and more, adding to the fun of the evening.
