Jackson County approves township redistricting
BLACK RIVER FALLS - The Jackson County Board of Supervisors approved a county board redistricting plan at its October meeting held back on the 16th
The Census of 2020 had the county's total population at 21,145. The following Tri-County Area adjusted districts for County Board seats were as follows:
District 1 – 1104 – Garfield W1 (574) & Cleveland (530)
District 2 – 1157 – Northfield (674), Curran (301) & Garfield W2 (182)
District 3 – 1095 – Garden Valley (395), Village Alma Center (487) & Hixton W1 (213)
District 7 – 1115 – Village of Hixton (456), Hixton W2 (407), Albion W4 (206) &
Springfield W2 (46)
The new districts were approved by voice vote with all 18 members attending voting aye.
In other agenda items for the Board, there was unanimous approval for a Tribal Law Enforcement Grant for the calendar year of 2024 to be used to partially assist with Tribal Law Enforcement in conjunction with the Ho-Chunk Nation and a resolution to replace and amend sections of the county code on truancy.
During the September meeting of the Board, the Board approved funds for the Wazee Lake Loop Trail and the Jackson County Silent Sports Connector Trail, from the WisDOT’s Transportation Alternatives Program;. The county will fund the project pending grant approval, through the use of Ho-Chunk compact monies. They also approved Town of Cleveland re-zoning requests for Daniel Ratkus to change 1.5 Acres of the Official Zoning Map from the A-2 (Forestry and Limited Agriculture) District to the R-2 (Residential) District and Nickolas D’Huyvetter to change 1.5 Acres of the Official Zoning Map from the R-3\ (Residential-Cabin/Cottage) District to the R-2 (Residential) District on the following described lands: On property located in the NW1/4-NW1/4, Section 14, T24N, R05W, Town of Cleveland, Jackson County, WI. The request is to change 1.5 acres of the R3(Residential-Cabin/Cottage) District to the R2(Residential) District for the construction of a single-family home and Emanuel Yoder to change 5 Acres of the Official Zoning Map from the A-2 (Forestry and
Limited Agriculture) District to the R-6 (Residential-Rural Ag) District for the construction of a single-family home and the ability to have animals.
