Jackson County Board approves funding for additional garage for DHHS

BLACK RIVER FALLS - The Jackson County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously 19-0, on a motion to authorize no more than $150,000 of ARPA funds to the DHHS for an additional garage at their monthly meeting held back on Sept. 20.

The need for the additional garage space for DHHS vehicles is due to the fact the eight departments within the agency have all seen a growth in staffing to meet growing services that have Statutory requirements and regulations which means increased storage and transportation needs along with increased maintenance and cleaning and movement on site to the DHHS parking lot for better access for meal site deliveries and client transportation.

The board also unanimously approved a resolution honoring 26 years of service to the county from employee Antia Leis, approved the contract between the county and UW-Extension, approved hiring an additional mechanic for the Highway Department shop, approved a levy of $12,000 for a 60” round culvert on Bloom Rd. in the Town of Cleveland and approved a zoning petition request in the Town of Cleveland for Town of Cleveland, to change 4.732 acres of the county zoning map from the A-1 (Agriculture) District to the B-2 (Outlying Business) District for the construction of a commercial retail facility, parking lot, and utility connections.
