Jackson County Board urges states to increase funding for courts

BLACK RIVER FALLS - An effort by the Wisconsin Counties Association (WCA) to lobby the state for more monies for counties for their court systems was unanimously approved by the Jackson County Board during its March meeting back on the 17th at the County Government Center..

Jackson County joins the Wisconsin Clerks of Circuit Court Association (WCCCA) and the Wisconsin Counties Association (WCA) in their efforts to increase the Circuit Court Cost Appropriation by $70 million payable to Wisconsin Counties in the 2025/27 Wisconsin State Budget. A copy will be sent to Governor Evers and all Wisconsin State
Legislators representing Jackson County.

The Board also unanimously approved a resolution to using $9,000 of the 2024 budget savings to hire an intern for the county's UW Extension office to hire an intern with an hourly rate of between $14.00 - $16.00 per hour to assist with various Extension programs..
