No. 1 ranked E-S keeps its record perfect with, faces O-F this week.

Unbeaten Eleva-Strum (8-0) received the state's No. 1 ranking in the Division 5 polls and put that ranking on the line Monday, Jan. 5 at home vs. Arcadia (9-3 overall).

E-S outscored the Raiders 63-45. The Cardinals' balanced performance on both ends of the court was highlighted by Maddea Brown's career-high 18 points, followed by scoring contributions from Avaya Zwiefelhofer(12 points), Avery Glenz(10), Brenley Bauer (7), Aliza Kulig (7), Avery Spangberg (6), and Clara Christ (3). Avaya collected her third double-double of the season, with 15 rebounds and 3 blocks.. The Lady Cards also showcased their defensive prowess with 13 steals, led by Avery Spangberg's six. Central had a solid first half, leading 40-26 and held on the rest of the way.

The Cards host Osseo-Fairchild on Friday, Jan. 9 at 7:15 p.m. and have a tough week of Dairyland Conference games next week at Blair-Taylor (7-2) on Tuesday, Jan. 13 and at Independence/Gilmanton (8-3) on Jan. 15.

Speaking of Osseo-Fairchild (1-8), the Thunder were the only other prep girls basketball team in action last week. O-F lost a rescheduled contest at Whitehall on Tuesday, Dec. 30 by a 57-34 score. Then on Friday, Jan. 2, the Thunder lost at Elmwood/Plum City 53-39. O-F was competitive early on but EPC broke out to lead by as many as 25 points in the second half before O-F rallied to cut hat margin down to 11 before the end of the contest. Makaela Kiesow led Osseo-Fairchild in scoring with 15 points and teammate Kierra Sieg finished with 14. The Wolves' Polly Webb led all scorers with 17 points.

Also in action this week, Fall Creek (5-4) hosts No. 6 Eau Claire Regis (10-2) on Thursday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. and Augusta (2-8) is at Blair-Taylor at 7:15 p.m.
