Northfield observes Memorial Day

By Lori Johnson

NORTHFIELD - Members of the Thomas and Leonard Johnson American Legion Post 541 gathered at the cemetery by New Hope Community Lutheran Church (also known as York Cemetery) on Sunday, May 25 to remember and honor fallen comrades from the area.

Post 541 is known for its meaningful Memorial Day services and 2025 did not disappoint. Everything, from the introduction of speaker Ron Larson to his conclusion with the poignant "We really don’t know them all, but we owe them all!", to the wreathes, reading names of area soldiers who served with pride, the gun salute, to the playing of taps, there was no doubt in anyone's mind, Memorial Day's real reason for being remembering and thanking "the many who indeed gave all!).

Lunch followed at the Northfield Legion Hall.
