Osseo-Fairchild prep girls' golfers qualify for sectionals again
PRAIRIE DU CHIEN - The Osseo-Fairchild High School Girls' Golf Team qualified again for sectionals for the fifth year in a row as they finished third in Wednesday, Sept. 29's WIAA Division 2 Prairie du Chien Regional Meet held at Prairie du Chien Country Club with a par 72.
The top four teams and top four individuals not on a qualifying team advance to the sectional meet, which will be held next Tuesday, Oct. 5 at Trapper's Turn Golf Club at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells. The meet begins at 9 a.m. The top two teams and top three golfers not on a qualifying team make it to the state meet Oct. 11-12 at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison.
Team results were No. 4 ranked Arcadia/Independence winning the title with a score of 394 followed by sectional qualifiers No. 6 Wisconsin Dells 398, Osseo-Farichild 411, La Crosse Aquinas 427, Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau 428, No. 6 Lancaster 428, Black River Falls 436, Prairie du Chien 478 and Nekoosa and Cochrane-Fountain City both had incomplete teams.
OFHS had a very good start on front nine with three of their golfers under 50 which carried them to a top four finish after the back nine.
O-F junior Trinity Knudtson had her best effort of the season shooting an 18-hole score of 93 to place fourth overall. The top three individuals were meet medalist and individual qualifier sophomore Brianna Kirsch of Lancaster, who shot an 83, followed by Libby Walker of Wisconsin Dells 91 and Alison Kennedy of Prairie du Chien 92.
Also playing the links for the Thunder in the meet were junior Brenna Seefeldt, finishing with a score of 99; senior Izzy Popple shot a 106, junior Eleice Dahl shot a 113 and sophomore Melanie Anderson shot a 128.
Individual sectional qualifiers also included G-E-T senior Emily Nelson who placed sixth with a score of 96 and Black River Falls senior Natalie Rave who shot a 106 to finish in 13th after winning a tie-breaker for the final qualifying spot.
