Strum holds village caucus for candidates for spring election

STRUM - The Village of Strum held its caucus to nominate candidates for Village President and three seats on the Village Board back on Jan. 13.
The lone candidate for village president was Dean Boehne. There were three candidates nominated for the three seats on the Village Board: Greg Rindal, Chuck Thompson and David Berge. The spring election is Tuesday, April 1. Anyone wishing to be write-in candidate must declare by the Thursday before the spring election date at the Village Civic Center.
The Village Board held its January meeting after the caucus. During the meeting both Kevin Skoug – Eleva-Strum Lions Club and James Husby – Eleva-Strum Lions Club, were granted operator's licenses. Board members discussed a Public Service Commission notification of a 4.1 percent increase in utility rates. They also discussed Music in the Park, which will return next summer at Woodland Park. June through August. The – Strum Business and Community Association sponsors the event and they requested from the village additional garbage cans, a porta potty and help with traffic direction for the Fourth of July celebration they also sponsor. A firework permit will also be completed for this event.
Also discussed by the Board was the new software for water meters that was installed in December village-wide. Reports from public works employees were that the reads went well with few issues. New meters were delivered and will be installed based on need first then beginning on the North side of the village working inward.
