Strum Village Board agrees to sell city lots

STRUM - The Strum Village Board unanimously approved the sale of several city-owned lots during its April meeting held on the 14th in the Civic Center.

The Village will sell three contiguous lots at the asking price of $17k/lot or sell six contiguous lots at $15k/lot. An amendment made by Board member David Berge to this motion to remove the rights of refusal with the selling of three lots was also unanimously approved.

In a report on the spring election, 371 voters with 44 of the 371 being absentee as well as having seven same-day Election Day registrants. This is up 244 percent from last Spring Election held April 2, 2024.

The Board also received and review a report on public works projects. The Village used ARPA funds to purchase soil & crushed granite for the batting cage ground at Spangberg Field. It also purchased were tarps to cover equipment, back stop for the infield and a hose reel. Work is being planned to fix the bathrooms at the village campground and complete the railing for the steps and pier at Woodland Park. These projects were approved by the Board. They also discussed the idea of of tearing down two pavilions one located in Woodland Park on the Hill and the other at the point in the Crystal Lake Park given their deteriorating condition, which to a discussion of the ownership of the parcel below the dam. This is not Village owned, but has been Village maintained for years. It is owned by Strum Rod & Gun and Immanuel Lutheran Church according to Trempealeau County mapping. A future meeting on this spot will be held. It was also reported that Strum Pickelball Strum Picklebal has enough money raised for the pickleball court area to pour concrete between the court and bathrooms.

In other agenda items, the Board approved all operator's licenses, accepted bid to sell village's 2005 Chevy Silverado for $2,800. and also accepted a donation from the Strum-Unity First Responders for an AED (defibrillator) to the Strum Police Department.
