Strum Village Board approves reducing license fees due to COVID-19

STRUM - The Strum Village Board approved a motion to reduce the alcohol fees for Class “B” Fermented Beverage and Class “B” Intoxicating Liquors by $100.00 per establishment at its monthly meeting back on June 8.

This measure was due to the recent COVID-19 restrictions on such businesses, particularly limiting operations and and number of customers in said establishments.

The board approved all such licenses for local establishments and stores along with cigarette licenses as well. Operator licenses were also approved.

Discussion items on the agenda by the board included improvements to the Crystal Lake Beach and the purchase of a new fire engine at a cost of half-million dollars for the Strum-Unity Fire Department. The board approved the purchase request in conjunction with the Town of Unity and will work with CCF Bank on financing the purchase.
