Strum Village Board holds two meetings in November, approves 2024 budget

STRUM - The Strum Village Board held two meetings in the month of November.

The latest was on the 27th at the village's civic center. The was a special meeting of the Board to deal with the 2024 village budget which also including a public hearing. The budget was adopted unanimously the and levy the proposed taxes at $406,580.07. This includes monies for General Fund and the Lake District Fund. This year's budget will spend $1,121,222.92. The mill rate will go down to $4.43 from last year.

The Board's regular November meeting took place on the 13th at the civic center. There was considerable discussion on a notice from the Wisconsin Dept. of Revenue concerning a delinquent tax account for the Viking Golf & Dine LLC. As it turned out, the DOR website was revamped and while entering the WT-7 for 2022, they were entered in 2023, therefore looking like the year of 2022 was delinquent for payroll taxes which was corrected. As for the Social Security Administration, the transmittal sheets, and copies of the W-3’s were misplaced and village faxed the information that they were missing.

In other agenda items, a motion was approved for the No. 5 pay application from Gerke Excavating in the amount of $26,904.36 for the alley project; an operator's license for Ruban Joshua C. Moreno – Consumer’s Cooperative Oil LLC; a picnic license for the Eleva Strum Rod & Gun Club – Ice Fishing Contest February 10, 2024. There was also discussion on topics such as the Strum waterworks corrective action plan with the DNR; the lease for Viking Golf and Dine LLC; a review of village employees flexible time off and a review of application for the village's Clerk/Treasurer position as Michelle Loken retired during the month.
