Thunder softball season ends in regional semis

MELROSE-MINDORO - The Osseo-Fairchild High School Softball Team had its two-season regional title streak snapped by Melrose-Mindoro in the WIAA Division 4 regional tournament semifinals last week Wednesday, May 22 at Melrose-Mindoro by a 2-1 score.

The Large Dairyland champions and top seed in the tournament went up 2-0 in the second inning off an RBI-double from Brielle Warner and an RBI-sacrifice from Laurilee Stanton. O-F got on the board in the sixth when pitcher Brylie Johnson belted an RBI-single that scored Halle Colby after she got on third base with a triple.

Hanna Giacomino had two hits for Osseo-Fairchild, including a double. Also getting hits for O-F were Chloe Gunderson and Emily Zimmerman too but winning pitcher Emma Severson struck out 10 batters and got out of bases-loaded jam in the first inning with zero runs.

Despite the loss, Johnson had a solid performance striking out four batters, walking only three and allowing five hits.

Osseo-Fairchild finished 7-15 overall.
