Trempealeau County loses in court over deputy's suspension

MADISON - A motion by Trempealeau County to disallow the state's Department of Workforce Development (DWD) to rule on the suspension of a Trempealeau County Sheriff's Deputy, was rejected in Dane County Court back on Nov. 6.

Dane County Circuit Court Judge Stephen Ehlke said the DWD can make a judgement on the appeal of suspension of former deputy Kevin Deeren. He reportedly was suspended in April of 2018 for three weeks by then Sheriff Richard Anderson for failure to disclosed a dismissed criminal complaint against him.

Deeren is reportedly seeking in $3,255 in back wages and lost vacation time. The county has not decided yet whether to settle the appeal or continue with the case.
