Barbara ‘Barb’ Jean Kelm, 68, Red Wing

Barbara “Barb” Jean Kelm, 68, of Red Wing, died Thursday, October 15, 2015. Born in Wabasha, MN on January 24, 1947 to Leonard and Louise (Schleicher) Rollins, she grew up on her family’s century farm near Weaver, MN. She attended grade school near their home and graduated from Wabasha High School.
After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from the University of Minnesota, she married James Kelm on June 9, 1968 and moved to Red Wing in 1969.
Early in her career she worked as a home economist for Goodhue County through the Minnesota Extension Service and Community Education early childhood and family development. As computers became essential to administering farm records, she learned the business of electronic Ag records management by selling hardware and using Red Wing Business Systems software. Beginning in the early 80s until the present, she owned and operated her own business. She took great pride in the service she provided to Midwest family farmers and local Red Wing businesses.
Barb was an avid gardener and enjoyed playing golf with Jim and their friends. Above all, she was dedicated to family, friends and her community. She cherished spending time with loved ones and will be daily, and deeply, missed by all who knew her.
Barb was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Jim Kelm, and her parents. She is survived by three children Heidi (Tim) Arbisi-Kelm, Gretchen Kelm, Rebecca (Jacob) Good as well as one grandson, Greyson Good; two brothers, John (Jan Paxton) Rollins and Leonard (Jolene) Rollins and one sister Louise “Weasie” (Doug) Smith as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 20 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service.
