Barbara M. Packer

Barbara M. Packer, 62, died November 28, 2022. Born July 8th, 1960, to Robert “Sully” Sullivan and Bonnie Sullivan at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Wabasha, MN.
She was baptized at St. Felix Catholic Church, Wabasha, MN. Barb attended elementary school at Caddie Woodlawn in Durand, WI. She was honored with a checker championship which she was very proud of. Barb moved to Kellogg and attended Wabasha-Kellogg High School, graduating 1979. Shortly after school she married Larry Packer on December 8th, 1979. They soon had three children Jamie, Amanda, and Erin.
On February 18, 1984, they suffered a car accident. The children at home were 1 _, 2 _, and 3 _. Barb had many injuries, including a severed spinal cord, they said she would be in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. Doctors and physical therapy told the family it would be 4-5 months in the hospital. With the guidance of care at 3rd Mary Brigh, her strong family, Larry & the children who were constant in therapy, working along with the nurses, Barb was able to come home after 4 weeks.
She later attended Southeastern Tech for business & management and was hired with IBM. She devoted her time with her children and was very proud of their accomplishments in school.
Soon Barb and Larry were blessed with grandchildren: Jackson, Talon, Cooper, and Ella. This made them simple and silly. It was fun catching full baby bottles, food thrown on the floor, babies crawling into kitchen cupboards, but most the time it was the laughter and so what!
Barb is survived by her daughters; Mandy (Nathan) Binner, and Erin (Jeremy Binner) Packer, her 4 lights of her life: Jackson, Talon, Cooper, and Ella; siblings: Randy (Anne) Bechel; Lori Lee; Susan (Steve Ard) Bronner; Jim Sullivan; Julie (Dan) Murphy; and Jack (Kelly) Sullivan and numerous nieces and nephews.
In life, Barb faced several heavy losses: husband Larry, son Jamie, mother Bonnie, father Bob, brother Michael and many other family members.
A celebration of life was 3 to 7 p.m., Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Abbott Funeral Home, Wabasha.
Services entrusted to Abbott Funeral Home & Crematory, Wabasha, MN. Words of sympathy or remembrance may be left at www.abbottfh.com
