Bernadine C. Duncan
Bernadine C. Duncan, 89, a longtime Stewartville, MN, resident died on Friday (August 30, 2024) of natural causes. surrounded by her loving family, at Mayo Clinic Rochester – St. Marys Campus.
Bernadine Carol Wegner was born on August 8, 1935, in Hammond, MN to Earl and Louise (Wilde) Wegner. She grew up on the farm in rural Hammond and attended country school. Bernadine was married on October 16, 1951, in California to Donald Duncan. Following their marriage, the couple lived in rural Stewartville, where they farmed, raised their family, and made their home for many years. Bernadine was a homemaker, helped run their family farm, and was employed at the Rodeway Inn and with General Warehouse Services, both in Rochester, for several years. Donald farmed for many years and was employed with Fraser Construction in Rochester as a heavy equipment operator.
Bernadine was a longtime member of the Methodist Church in Stewartville. After retiring, she and Don spent many winters in Mission,TX where they enjoyed spending time with friends. Bernadine enjoyed knitting, gardening, and canning. She was the best cook and the family used to fight over her potato salad. The recipe remains a family secret to this day. She loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bernadine is survived by her husband, Donald and 3 daughters and 1 son - Donna Pepper of Byron, MN; Dwight “Ike” (Leslie) of Racine, MN; Tracy (Dan) Regenscheid of Lake City, MN and Lisa (Mike) Stock of La Crosse, WI; Grandchildren Tessa (Jim) Olive, Yonna (Erik) Ferguson, Nate (Beth) Hall, Dana (Brandon) Ingram, Bradee Brundridge, Hailee (Zach) Eggers and great-grandchildren Dylan, Rylie, Tayden, Brayden, Marlee, Jade, Brooklyn, Carson, Gracie and Aubrey. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce McCormack of Rochester and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son – Donald “Sonny” Duncan Jr., daughter Susan Duncan, son-in-law – Warren Pepper, her parents, and 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
The funeral service for Bernadine will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday (September 10, 2024) at the Stewartville Methodist Church with Rev. Laura Nordstrom officiating. A time of visitation for family and friends will take place 1 hr. prior to the service at the church on Tuesday morning. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville.
