Claire Marvel ‘Ellis’ Hack, 71, St. Paul
Claire Marvel (Ellis) Hack, 71, of St. Paul, MN unexpectedly passed away at Regions Hospital, St. Paul, MN on Tuesday, April 2, 2019.
Claire was born September 7, 1947, to Dr. Earl and Marvel (Magner) in Wabasha, MN at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital. She was the youngest of three daughters Charlotte (1943), and Carol (1939). She graduated from Elgin High School in 1965. Following graduation, she received a Bachelors Degree from the University of Minnesota and a Masters Degree from St. Thomas. She worked at nursing homes as a caregiver for many years.
On March 21, 1976, she married Henry Hack at the Elgin Methodist Church in Elgin, MN, and they spent 43 years of marriage living in St. Paul.
Claire was a great golfer, winning many awards, especially the Women’s Club Championship at Rochester Golf and Country Club in Rochester.
She also was passionate about music - singing, playing piano and French horn. Claire also loved her pets (dogs and cats), travel, and photography. She published five books and had an enormous collection of old cameras and artifacts from her many around the world trips. Her laugh and wry sense of humor will be greatly missed.
Clair is survived by her husband, Henry, her two sisters, Charlotte (Roger) Cummings of Calabasas, CA, and Carol (Ron) Prescher of Wabasha, MN, a step daughter, Christine and a step-granddaughter, Natasha.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvel and Earl Ellis, and one stepson, Michael.
A celebration of Life for Claire will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Woodbury Lutheran Church, 7380 Afton Rd., St. Paul, MN, from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
On Sunday, April 28, 2019, an informal gathering of friends and relatives will take place at her sister, Carol and Ron Prescher’s home in Wabasha, MN, 216 Skyline Drive, from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
