Claranette D. Atkinson, 77, Wabasha

 Claranette D. Atkinson, age 77, of Wabasha, died Saturday evening at her home surrounded by her two children after a year long illness with cancer. She was born January 4, 1938 in Wabasha, the daughter of Edward and Clara (Mehren) Wagner. She was a graduate of St. Felix High School in Wabasha. She married Dallas Atkinson December 14, 1963 in Sioux Falls, SD. Clara worked in the dietary department of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Wabasha for over 25 years, starting as an aide and retiring as the manager of the department. She then worked at Norm’s Super Valu as a baker for three years and then for over 10 years she worked at Uni-Patch in Wabasha.
 She was a member of the Wabasha Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Auxiliary. She was also a longtime den mother for the Wabasha Cub Scouts.
 Claranette is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Marlene Atkinson, Winona, MN and her daughter, Lynn Atkinson, Wabasha, MN; three grandchildren, Ashley (Michael) Atkinson-Leon, Des Plaines, IL, Bryan and Michelle Atkinson, both of Winona, MN, one great-grandson, Robert Atkinson, Winona, MN; one sister, Muriel Demko, Maplewood, MN; brother-in-law, Michael Giampaolo, Forest Lake, MN; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas, her parents, Edward and Clara Wagner, three sisters and seven brothers.
 A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 11:00am at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha with the Reverend Father Joseph LaPlante officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery in Wabasha. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 9am until the time of service.
