David Tibesar Kreofsky

David Tibesar Kreofsky, 41, of Spring Valley, died on June 17, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria due to complication from treatment for testicular cancer. He was born on November 21, 1983, in Wabasha, MN, to Donn and Sarah (Loveland) Kreofsky. As the middle child of three boys, David mastered the fine art of learning from both ends-gaining wisdom from his older brother and sharing it with his younger. From an early age, David benefited from exceptional support and education, and his Down Syndrome never kept him from living a life full of joy, mischief, and meaning.David worked at his family's business, LARK Toys & Carousel, where he was proudly in charge of recycling aluminum and cardboard, delivering toy carts, unpacking books for the store, and making sure GIP the pot-bellied pig made it home every night. His friend Tim at LARK dubbed him "D-Dog," and the nick-name stuck-for life.High School was a highlight, filled with inclusion in school musicals, a stint as a baseball team manager, and countless memories he relived often through his yearbook and scrapbook. After graduation, he found friendship and purpose at the Wabasha Developmental Achievement Center. In 2007, the family moved to Spring Valley, IL to be closer to Sarah's side of the family. In 2011, David began work-ing part-time at Maze Nails, where he delivered faxes, sort-ed nails, and found a community of kind, caring coworkers who became true friends. His annual birthday parties in the office-complete with a dark room, a sudden burst of light and everyone yelling "Happy Birthday!"-were legendary. He talked about them all year long.David also volunteered for nearly a decade delivering Mobile Meals in Peru, helped at IVAR animal shelter and local events, and even raised an IVAR lab-mix puppy he named Gamora (whom he affectionately blamed for the state of the fur-covered floors).Known for his wardrobe of colorful novelty-print shirts, David selected his own fabrics and had his mom sew them up. Most afternoons, you'd find him playing pool for hours with his cat Wendy perched nearby, and his CD player spinning his favorite tunes (way too loudly). Taylor Swift, the Jonas Brothers, the Backstreet Boys, Harry Potter, the Avengers, Reese's, and Taco Bell were some of his great loves-along with his family, especially his young niece and nephew. He often said, "l love being an uncle." David and his younger brother Andrew took many trips together, including an unforgettable 3 weeks in Hawaii-the gold standard by which all future adventures were mea-sured. For years afterward, David would compare new sights, tastes, and experiences with a delighted, "Ahh, this is just like Hawaii." A true science buff and proud to be a good reader and speller (less so with math and money), David found joy in everyday and excitement in the smallest things. He often said, "This is the best day ever"-and with him around, it was. His life was filled with connection, laughter, purpose, and love. How lucky we are to have loved somebody who is so hard to say goodbye to.David is survived by his mother, Sarah Loveland Kreofsky; his brothers Chadd (Angela Pacetti) Kreofsky and Andrew Kreofsky; his favorite nephew and niece, Barrett and Isla Kreofsky; and a large and close extended family.Mueller Funeral Home in Peru has been entrusted with arrangements. No formal funeral is planned; a private family celebration will be held at a later date.Memorial contributions may be directed to Wabasha County DAC 111 2nd St. W, Wabasha, MN 55981 or the Wabasha Public Library 168 Alleghany Ave. Wabasha, MN 55981The online guestbook may be viewed and remembrances shared at www.MuellerFH.com
