Delores 'Dee' W. Holmgren
The funeral service for Delores “Dee” W. Holmgren was held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 6th, at First Lutheran Church in Lake City with Pastor Louise E. Stromberg officiating. Burial was in Milltown Cemetery in Milltown, WI.
Mrs. Holmgren, 89, of Lake City passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Mayo Clinic Health System – Lake City Care Center in Lake City.
Delores W. Mattson was born September 13, 1925 in Fredrick, WI to Roy and Mildred (Gilland) Mattson. When she was 13 she moved with her family to Luck, WI and in 1943 moved to Milltown, WI and graduated from Milltown High School. After graduation Dee worked at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. She met Howard Holmgren in April 1947, and they were married on August 23, 1947 in Milltown, WI.
Dee and Howard lived in Milltown, WI until 1950 when they moved to Wabasha, MN and in 1965 they moved to Lake City. She was active in Jobs Daughters, Eastern Star, and was a leader in the Campfire Girls while her daughters were growing up. Dee was a member of First Lutheran Church in Lake City and in her Church Circle. Dee enjoyed children, and especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Dee is survived by two sons, Lowell ‘Hogey’ (Carol) Holmgren, and Larry (Deb) Holmgren, Sr. both of Lake City; two daughters, Carol Anderson and Mary Beth (Jim) Brandt both of Red Wing; a son-in-law, Marvin Glander of Lake City; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lois Voss of Milltown, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Howard who died May 26, 2004, and one daughter, Susie who died November 27, 2014.
Friends and family visited from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5th, at the Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel in Lake City; and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Memorials are preferred.
