Doreen Catherine Stamschror
Doreen Catherine Stamschror, age 100, of Pepin Hill/Wabasha, MN, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2024, surrounded by her family at Gundersen – St. Elizabeth Health Care Center, Wabasha.
Doreen was born on August 5, 1924 in Theilman, MN, to Ernest and Catherine (Marx) Klein. She was a life-long area resident and graduated from St. Felix High School, Wabasha. On May 14, 1946, Doreen married Lloyd Stamschror and together they raised 11 children: Jim, Ron, Jack, Gary, Tom, Karen, Kevin, Bill, Lori, Vonnie and Paula. Lloyd passed away on April 21, 1991.
She was a faithful member of St. Felix Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Pepin Hill Women's Club, Pepin Hill Farmers Club, and the St. Felix Quilting Group. Doreen was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, bird watching, reading, stamp and coin collecting, quilting, and playing card games or Yahtzee any chance she could. Family was most important to her and she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Doreen is survived by her children: Jim (Teresa) Stamschror, Jack (Cindy) Stamschror, Gary (Jane) Stamschror, Tom Stamschror, Karen Wolfe, Kevin (Lori) Stamschror, Bill (Debbie) Stamschror, Lori (Jim) Perry, Vonnie (Wade) Schneider, and Paula (Willy) Perry; daughter-in-law Linda Stamschror; 27 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; a sister Helen Schilz; sister-in-law Ruth Klein; brothers-in-law Fr. Robert Stamschror and Robert Magnuson and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd; son Ronald; granddaughter Susan Stamschror; son-in-law David Wolfe; siblings Margaret Speedling, Gerald Klein, Betty Roemer Schmidt, Anita Norton, and infant brother Robert Klein.
Funeral Mass was held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2024 at St. Felix Catholic Church, Wabasha with Fr. Robert Stamschror, Fr. James Russell, and Fr. Tom Loomis con-celebrating. Interment will be at St. Felix Cemetery, Wabasha.
Visitation was held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Abbott Funeral Home, Wabasha and was at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
