Elmer J. Marcotte, 86, Plainview

 The funeral service for Elmer J. Marcotte will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 21, at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Plainview with Father William Becker officiating. Burial will be in St. Joachim’s Catholic Cemetery in Plainview with Military Rites by the Plainview American Legion Post #179.
 Mr. Marcotte, 86, of Plainview, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at St. Elizabeth’s Health Care Center in Wabasha.
 Elmer John Marcotte was born on August 22, 1929 in Marshall, Minnesota to Levi A. and Sarah J. (Gaffney) Marcotte. He grew up and attended country and Marshall Schools. He went on to Watchmakers College in Elgin, Illinois and graduated in 1949, and was then employed at a jewelry store in Pipestone, Minnesota. Elmer then enlisted in the US Air Force in 1950 during the Korean Conflict. He attended Air Force Armament School, and then served on the flight crew of a B-29 bomber as a gunner and air refueling operator as a Staff Sargent. Following his discharge he was employed at a jewelry store in Plainview in 1954.
 Elmer married Rose E. Gosse on December 28, 1957 at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha. In 1971 the couple purchased the jewelry store in Plainview and operated it as Marcotte Jewelry until Rose took to ill health and closed it in November 1997. Rose died in July 1998.
 Elmer was a member of St. Joachim Catholic Church in Plainview, and a lifetime member of the Plainview American Legion Post #179, and the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Post #4086 in Wabasha.
 He is survived by his two sons, Douglas Marcotte of Rochester, and Daniel (Darla) Marcotte of Plainview; two grandchildren, Brent Marcotte of Rochester, and Alisha (Ryan) Johnson of Victoria, Minnesota; and two great-grandsons, Hudson and Brecken Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, six brothers, and three sisters.
 Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
