Harry Wobbe

 Harry A. Wobbe, age 81, of rural Wabasha, died Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Hospital-Methodist Campus following a brief battle with lung cancer. He was born February 11, 1933 in Wabasha, the son of Gregor and Johann (Drees) Wobbe. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1953-1955. Following his service he returned to the Wabasha area. He married Delphine Smieja October 19, 1957 at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha.
 Harry farmed in Glasgow Township for 50 years and he also worked at Gould Battery in Lake City for nearly 30 years. He was a member of St. Felix Catholic Church and a member of St. Joseph’s Society of Catholic United Financial. He also was a member of the Wabasha American Legion Post #50 and the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Post #4086.
 He survived by his wife, Delphine Wobbe, Wabasha, MN; children and spouses, Sandra and Tom Schmidt, Wabasha, MN, Dale Wobbe, Lake City, MN, Betty and Eugene Lichtblau, Red Wing, MN, Paul and Tammy Wobbe, Wabasha, MN, Carol and Bruce Klassen, Plainview, MN; seven grandchildren, Chelsea and Ashley Klassen, Danielle (Dennis) Diercks and Katie Lichtblau, Brittaney (Jesse) Roemer, Tayler Wobbe and Zach Wobbe; sister, Marie Passe, Wabasha, MN; brother and sisters-in-law, Robert and Ann Wobbe, Wabasha, MN, Tina Wobbe Schuth, Wabasha, MN; brother-in-law, Dalton “Bud” Langanki, Wabasha, MN; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gregor and Johanna Wobbe, brothers, Joseph, Alphonsus and Gregor Wobbe, sisters, Anita Glomski and Delores Langanki; brothers-in-law, William Glomski and Martin Passe, and sister-in-law, Rita Wobbe.
 A funeral Mass was offered on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 11:00am at St. Felix Catholic Church with the Reverend James Russell and the Reverend Monsignor Thomas Cook officiating. Interment was in St. Felix Cemetery. Military rites were accorded by the Wabasha American Legion and Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Posts. Casket bearers were Zach Wobbe, Joe Wobbe, Bill Glomski, Marty Passe, Matt Wobbe, and Bob Langanki. Honorary bearers were his granddaughters, Chelsea and Ashley Klassen, Danielle Diercks, Katie Lichtblau, Brittany Roemer and Tayler Wobbe. Family and friends called at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha on Thursday from 4-7pm with a prayer service at 7pm and they called at the church on Friday one hour before the service.
