Helen B. MacDougall, 90, Wabasha native

 Helen B. MacDougall, age 90, a native of Wabasha and formerly of Chicago, died Saturday, January 7, 2017, at St. Elizabeth’s Health Care in Wabasha.
She was born February 9, 1926 in Wabasha, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Miller) Kohn. She was a graduate of St. Felix High School in Wabasha. In 1944 she was named Miss Wabasha. She married Gordon MacDougall in 1948 at St. Felix Catholic Church. Shortly thereafter the couple moved to Chicago. Mr. MacDougall died in 1992. Helen moved back to Wabasha at that time.
 Music was a huge part of Helen’s life. She was a self taught piano player and loved composing and playing her music. She also was an accomplished artist with her drawings, many of which are treasured by her family. Her food of passion was chocolate.
 Helen is survived by three grandchildren, Joshua Mac-Williams, Bronwyn Mac-Williams and Dylan Mac-Williams, all of Chicago, IL; six great-grandchildren; son-in-law, David Mac-Williams, Chicago, IL; sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne and Leo Meyer, Wabasha, MN; sister-in-law, Marietta Kohn, Wabasha, MN; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon, daughter, Barbara Mac-Williams, parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Kohn, brothers, Sam and Joseph Kohn, and sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Lefty McGrath and Bette and Dan McGrath.
 A memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at 10:00am at St. Elizabeth’s Health Care Center Chapel in Wabasha with the Reverend Father Joseph LaPlante officiating. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Chicago at a later date. Family and friends may call at the chapel on Thursday one hour before the service.
