James Robert Janisch
James Robert Janisch, age 79, died at home on Monday September 26, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born November 12, 1942, to Emil and Margaret Janisch in La Crosse, WI. He graduated from Aquinas High School in 1960.
Jim married Carol Hager on October 24, 1970, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Kellogg, MN. Jim worked for various telephone companies for 40 years, ending his career at Century Link in Plainview, MN in 2004.
Jim was happiest when he could be busy building or fixing something, mowing, and any project he could find. He planted hundreds of trees and shrubs. He enjoyed fishing, especially with his grand kids at Siren, WI, and hunting, especially elk hunting, with his friend Dave in Colorado. He was a lifelong loyal Packers fan.
Jim is survived by his wife, Carol, son Tony (Meredith), son Bill (Linnea), and daughter Mary Jo Eversman (Daren). Six grandchildren, Connor (Ashley) Janisch, Mikela (Shon) Medin, Taylor (Maitias) Read, Amelia Janisch, Ethan and Lydia Eversman. five great-grandchildren, Lennox and Laine Janisch, James, Andrew and Chloe Medin. Sisters-in-law Shirley, Sis, and Diana Janisch and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by parents, Emil and Margaret Janisch, father and mother-in-law, Alfred and Gert Hager, brothers Ray (Shirley), Erv (Sis), and Del (Diana) Janisch.
Visitation will be Friday September 30, from 4-7 p.m. at Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha, MN. A funeral Mass will be Saturday, October 1, at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Kellogg, MN with visitation one hour before Mass. Burial will be at St. Agnes Cemetery in Kellogg, MN.
The family wishes to give special thanks to niece, Franci Janisch, who came from Alaska to bring comfort to Jim in his final days and to Angela from Mayo Hospice for the extraordinary care she provided in Jim's final hours.
