John W Beckmann

John W. Beckmann, 71 years old, passed away from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) on Monday July 26th, 2021, at Mayo Clinic Hospital-Methodist Campus in Rochester, MN.
John was born June 6th, 1950, in Clark, South Dakota to the late Reverend Robert and Margie Beckmann. John is preceded in death by 2 sisters that passed in their infancy. Growing up he was the middle child; he was very proud of that fact and always kept a special relationship with his nieces that were also middle children. John married Christine (Hopman) on September 16th, 1972. They lived in Wabasha, MN where they raised Katie and Seth.
John was confirmed in Christian faith in April of 1964 in Lewiston, Minnesota. He served his church often as an Usher, Choir Member, Youth Discipleship Chairman, School Board Member and Church Council Secretary throughout his life. John influenced the spiritual life of many friends and always made sure his family attended church, even on vacation. He was always available to offer a helping hand as people were trimming or removing trees. He was also an amateur photographer offering his services at weddings, confirmations, graduations, and family reunions. As a mechanic John was always working on cars for friends and loved ones. During a few years as a truck driver, he was always happy to visit with relatives while he was on the road. John retired from Rislow Service Center in Lewiston, Minnesota on January 3rd, 2020.
John was an avid fisherman and really loved hitting the lake with his brothers-in-law, father-in-law, uncles, friends, and mostly his son, Seth. He had built a 1955 Chevy Belair 2 Door Post in 1972 and joined a Tri 5 Chevy club based in Rochester, Minnesota. He was currently building another 55 Chevy. John made many friends through the years of car shows. Since 2003 John had been riding motorcycles, starting on a Harley-Davidson, and graduating to the baddest Chopper in Southeastern Minnesota.
Even in death John continues to give and donated his body to Mayo Clinic for research. A Celebration of his Christian Life will be held at Beach Park in Wabasha, Mn at 11 A.M Saturday August 14th. His family will host an open house luncheon following the service until 3 P.M. The family would like all memorials to be donated to Mayo Research or “Time of Grace” which is an online ministry supported by charitable donations.
John leaves cherished and loving memories with his wife Christine, two children Katie (Neil Gislason) and Seth (Joelle) Beckmann, an older brother Raymond (Lois) Beckmann, his younger sister Kathy (Dale Peterson), five granddaughters Kaylea, Zoe, Teagan, Skyleia, and Jozilyn, five sisters-in law, four brothers-in-law, a host of nieces and nephews, and all the people that he had the pleasure of knowing. And as Kaylea always said as she left him “love you and we’ll miss your cute face”.
