Judyth Ellen Schmit

Judyth Ellen Schmit, 79 of Wabasha, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024, due to cancer, at the Gundersen St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Wabasha, MN.
Judy was born in Wabasha on November 20, 1944, to Leo and Elda Wolfe. She attended St. Felix Grade School and graduated from Wabasha High School in 1962.
As a lifelong resident of Wabasha, Judy in her early years worked at the Coffee Mug and the Idle Hour as a cook and waitress. Later on she took a position at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in housekeeping. Judy and her coworker, Sue, were more than just cleaning ladies. They went the extra mile by bringing the residents treats on holidays and helping with bingo.
Judy’s hobbies included crocheting, baking, cooking, arranging flowers, and feeding the birds and squirrels. With her generous heart, she would share her afghans and baked goods (especially her chocolate chip cookies) with neighbors, friends and coworkers.
Judy is survived by her son Dale (Carol) Schmit of Wabasha; grandchildren: Nic (Selena) Schmit, Natalie (Tyler Church) Schmit; great grandchild Franes Schmit; one sister Donna Elfering, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Darron, and siblings: Marianne Wolfe and Leo “Buzz” Wolfe.
Funeral Mass was at 3 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2024, at St. Felix Catholic Church, Wabasha, MN with Rev. James Russell officiating. Interment was at St. Felix Cemetery, Wabasha.
Visitation began at 2 p.m. on Thursday September 5 at the church.
