Lyle Dean Cruser
Lyle Dean Cruser, 89, of Wabasha, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at St. Elizaberh’s Health Care Center in Wabasha. He was born May 17, 1934, in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota to William and Mertie (Jones) Cruser. Lyle attended school and graduated from Sauk Rapids High School. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Army from 1955 to 1957.
Lyle was employed with Northern States Power for 38 years retiring in 1994. In 2007 he moved from St. Cloud to Wabasha. On June 28, 2008, he married Carolyn (Franke) Schuth in Wabasha.
Lyle volunteered to drive the Veteran’s Van from Wabasha to Fort Snelling for a few years. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, playing dominos and spending time doing his yard work. Lyle was a member AA for 30+ years, the American Legion in Sauk Rapids and after moving to Wabasha he became a member of the Wabasha American Legion Post #50 and was a member of St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha.
Lyle is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn “Carol” Cruser of Wabasha; four daughters, Michelle Norton of Wabasha, Lisa (Doug) Bratsch of Queen Creek, AZ, Mary Beth DeLare of Litchfield, and Karen (Lyle) Ferkinfoff of St. Cloud; two stepsons, James (Ken Athey) Schuth and Brian (Lisa Rasmusson) Schuth both of Rochester; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, one brother and one sister-in-law.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 18, at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha with Father Prince Raja officiating. Burial will follow the service at St. Felix Catholic Cemetery in Wabasha. Friends and family may visit from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday.
