Marcella F. Swain

Marcella F. Swain, 85 of Wabasha passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at her son’s home in Lake City, MN surrounded by family.
Marcella Florence was born July 23, 1937, in Rollingstone, MN to Dorothy (Koopman) and Arthur Rinn who went missing in action. Dorothy later married William (Huck) Welsh who became Marcella’s stepfather. She graduated from Wabasha High School. On September 25, 1958, she married Wallace Swain and together they raised five children: Cleo, Debra, David, Gordan, and Penny. Wallace passed away September 18, 1992.
Marcella enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitching, gardening, canning, and doing ceramics. She loved to play cards with her family and when asked if she wanted to play cards, she said, “I always want to play cards.” She also enjoyed watching birds and was particularly fond of Cardinals. She collected anything that involved Cardinals. Her favorite past time was spending quality time with her family whom she loved deeply.
She is survived by her children: Cleo Swain; Debra (Scott) Albrecht; David (Deborah Schultz) Swain; Gordan (Melanie Johnson-Swain) Swain; and Penny (Kevin) Ziemann; 13 grandchildren: Heather, Matthew, Jeanine, Amy, Eric, Michael, Ashley, Natasha, Jammie, Jacob, Tonya, Brandon, and Kyle; and 29 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur Rinn; Dorothy and William Welsh and her husband Wallace.
Funeral service was held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Abbott Funeral Home, Wabasha.
Visitation was held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
