Marcella M. Ahlers
Marcella M. Ahlers, 103 of Wabasha, passed away Monday, May 23, 2022, at Gundersen – St. Elizabeth Health Care Center.
Marcella was born October 29, 1918, in Brainerd, MN to William and Theresa (Angelbeck) Passe. She married John Ahlers on June 10, 1941, at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha. Marcella was an active member at St. Felix Church, St. Felix CCW, and Trout Brook Valley Women’s Club. Her passion was teaching; she was a schoolteacher in rural country school for many years. Later in life she was a bookkeeper for Dill Elevator, delivered flower for The Blossom Shop and worked at the Anderson House Hotel. In her free time, Marcella and her husband enjoyed being active in the Wabasha Senior Center and playing cards. She also enjoyed her trips to Treasure Island Casino.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Jean (Joe) Marking, Lake City, MN, five grandchildren: Barbara May, Donna (Pat) Peters, Paul (Jannell) Tentis, Sue (Joe) Schmit, Matt (Heidi) Tentis; nine great-grandchildren: Dustin (Karrah) Anderson, Shawn Anderson, Halie (Ben) Meyer, Chelsea (David) Stenzel, Katelyn Tentis, Jacob Tentis, Nicholas Tentis, John Tentis, and James Tentis; five great great grandchildren: Joseph, Reagan, Addilynn, Mackenzie, Graycen and one due in August; a sister-in-law Frances Brinkman and many other relatives.
Marcella is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; an infant daughter, Kathleen; daughter Carol Tentis; Sisters: Margaret Sexton and Dorothy Larson; Brothers: Elmer Passe and Vince Passe.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2022, at St. Felix Catholic Church, Wabasha with Reverend Glenn Frerichs officiating. Interment will be at St. Felix Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 25th at Abbott Funeral Home, Wabasha, with parish prayers at 7 p.m. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the church on Thursday.
