Marian Bernadine Evers, 83, Theilman

Marian Bernadine Evers, age 83, of Theilman, MN, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Hospital-St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester where she had been a patient a few days. Marian was born April 11, 1932 to Genevieve Ann (Schmit) and Arthur John Miller at their home in Conception, rural Kellogg, the eldest of six children. The family moved to Pepin Hill in her early years where she attended grade school at Reads Landing through the 8th grade. She then attended St. Felix Catholic High School in Wabasha, graduating in 1950. She worked for several years as a nanny and she also did babysitting, cooking and doing housework for families who needed her assistance. On November 10, 1954 she married Robert J. Evers at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and they began their life of 41 years together on the farm in the rural area between Conception and Theilman.
Marian was a homemaker, a mother of nine children, a gardener of vegetables and flowers, a seamstress, and a cake baker and decorator of birthday and wedding cakes. She enjoyed helping others and giving of herself, her time and her talents. She loved her church and as an active volunteer she took pride in donating to the Religion Fair, the annual Immaculate Conception Church Fall Dinner and selling raffle tickets for 30+ years. Her love of gardening produced many canned fruits and vegetables for her family’s table, of which dill pickles were the most remembered, and the flowers she grew were displayed as she decorated the church altars for over 20 years. She often made baby blankets and an average of 45ditty bags per year for the less fortunate. Her favorite activities were playing cards in a Euchre game at Roy’s Tavern in Theilman, going out to supper at The Elba House, and entertaining her family and friends on various occasions. After her husband’s death in 1995 she remained on the farm and lived with her grandson, Jeremiah Evers. Since June of 2014 Marian had resided at St. Isidore Health Center of Greenwood Prairie in Plainview.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert, and brothers, Harold and Lawrence Miller. She is survived by her nine children, Genevieve (Darwin) Smith, Preston, MN, Joseph (Tanja) Evers and Steven (Kimberly) Evers, both of Theilman, MN, Mary Ann (Michael) Jeppson and Virginia “Ginger” (Keith) Klavetter, both of Plainview, MN, Susan (Duane) Hager, Kellogg, MN, Judith Evers and special friend, Michael Sullivan, Mantorville, MN, Carolyn (Richard) Young, Plainview, MN, and Henry Evers, Theilman, MN. She was also blessed with 25 grand children, three step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and also five “expected” great-grandchildren in the coming months. She is also survived by brothers, Eugene (Darlene) Miller, Theilman, MN, and Richard (Kay) Miller, Rochester, MN; sister, Carol (Robert) Sylvester, Wabasha, MN; sisters-in-law, RoseMary Miller, Plainview, MN, and Alice Evers, Theilman, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Her loving, caring, humorous, giving nature will be missed by her family and many friends.
A funeral Mass was offered on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 12 Noon at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Conception, rural Kellogg, with the Reverend Father William Becker officiating. Interment was in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Conception. Family and friends called at the church on Friday from 4-9pm and one hour before the Mass on Saturday.
