Mary C. Powers, 88, Wabasha
Mary C. Powers, 88 of Wabasha and formerly of Moorhead, MN, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Saint Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Wabasha, MN.
Mary Catherine was born November 25, 1931, in Wabasha to Anthony and Catherine (Lee) Passe. She graduated from St Felix High School and attended St. Cloud State University. On May 3, 1952, she married Jack R. Powers and together they raised four children: Kevin, Siobhan, Brian and Robert. Jack passed away December 13, 2008.
Mary and Jack lived in Iowa City, IA while he obtained his master’s degree and then to California so Jack could study at Berkley. In 1960, they moved to Moorhead, MN and made this their home for over 50 years. Mary was a woman of a strong Catholic faith who was giving of her time at her parish, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Moorhead helping with funerals and other gatherings. She volunteered in many different capacities and was also a Eucharistic Minister. Mary was a member of the Catholic Daughters and contributed many hours to this organization.
Mary loved a good game of Bridge, beautiful flowers, sewing, was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed traveling with their camper to many places throughout the United States. She valued time with family and enjoyed making a lot of great memories with her special cousin JoAnn. Mary was loved by all her nieces and nephews and especially enjoyed their annual trips in August to Canada camping.
She is survived by her children: Kevin Powers; Siobhan (Steve) Anderson; Brian (Carla) Powers; and Bob (Katey) Powers; grandson, Jameson Moher; step grandchildren: Jeremiah Hogel, Hannah Shoger, and Max Shoger; a grandson-in-law Nolan Braseth; two great grandchildren: Ansley and Ailey Braseth; a brother Ward (Ann) Passe; a cousin JoAnn Williams; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jack; granddaughter Afton Braseth; and a brother Lee Passe.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Felix Catholic Church, Wabasha. Interment will be at St. Felix Cemetery, Wabasha.
