Mary Carmena Foley, 96, Wabasha

Mary Carmena Foley, age 96, of Wabasha, died Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Health Care Center in Wabasha. She was born April 3, 1921 at the family home in Highland Township of Wabasha County, the daughter of Thomas and Bathilda (Sauter) Foley. Carmena worked 34 years at the Community Clinic in Wabasha as a secretary and posting clerk, retiring in 1986.
She was an active member of St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha. She served the church as a lector and Eucharistic Minister for many years. She also was a member of the Council of Catholic Women where she served as president and treasurer and she was a member of the quilting group at St. Felix. Carmena had many interests outside of her church as well. She enjoyed bowling, baking, reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting and playing cards. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Carmena is survived by sister, Dorothy Kennebeck, Wabasha, MN; nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Bathilda Foley, and sisters, Eleanore Foley and Cecelia Knowlton.
A funeral Mass was offered on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00am at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha with the Reverend Father Adam McMillan officiating. Interment followed at St. Felix Cemetery. Casket bearers were her nephews. Family and friends called at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha on Friday from 4-7pm concluding with a prayer service and they called at the church on Saturday one hour before the Mass.
