Michael J. Gamble

Michael J. Gamble, 81 of Wabasha, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021 at La Crescent Health Services in La Crescent, MN.
Michael Joseph was born January 31, 1940, in Minneapolis, MN to George and Mary (Danko) Gamble. He graduated from Richfield High School, Richfield, MN. He served in the US Army from March 1960 to March 1963. On November 13, 1965, he married Eileen Arnoldy at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Rollingstone, MN. Together they raised three children: Ted, Jason and Julie. Eileen passed away December 1, 2006.
Mike was a kind, funny, generous, warm hearted man. He devoted his life to his family and was married to Eileen for over 40 years. They met while working at Honeywell in early 1965. Wasting no time, they married in November, barely ten months after their first date. Together, they raised Julie, Jason, and Ted in Wabasha, MN. When Eileen was diagnosed with cancer, he remained by her side as her primary caretaker until she sadly passed in 2006. He was also a loyal father who could always be seen cheering his kids on with Eileen at their various school and athletic events. Watching his kids grow up, getting married and having kids of their own was a highlight of Mike’s life.
Mike was employed for many years at Dairyland Power Cooperative, Alma, WI and retired in 2002. Upon retirement he enjoyed traveling around the country with Eileen on their several vacations and trips. While at home he enjoyed golf and taking care of his home and flower gardens. A lifelong learner, he enjoyed reading nonfiction and American history. He also carried on a love/hate relationship with all of the Minnesota sports teams, particularly the Vikings. He led his family by example with the life he led. He taught his children to always work hard, study hard, and pray hard. He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Felix Catholic Church, Wabasha. He will be missed.
He is survived by his children: Ted (Linda) Gamble; Jason (Michelle) Gamble; and Julie (Wade) Breer; four grandchildren: Katelyn, Matthew, Megan, and Abbey; a sister Judy (Bob) Schmitz; a brother Dennis Gamble and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Eileen.
Private committal prayers will be at St. Felix Cemetery, Wabasha, MN.
Services entrusted to Abbott Funeral Home & Crematory, Wabasha, MN.  Words of sympathy or remembrance may be left at www.abbottfh.com
