Muriel I. Leisen, 85, Wabasha

 Muriel I. Leisen, age 85, of Wabasha, formerly of Plainview, died Monday, June 29, 2015 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Wabasha surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 30, 1930 in Wabasha, the daughter of Nicholas and Marcella (Kennebeck) Jacoby. She was a graduate of St. Felix High School in Wabasha and she had one year of college education. Prior to her marriage she worked as a hairdresser and an office clerk in Minneapolis for seven years. Muriel married William Leisen of Plainview October 15, 1955 at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha. Following Bill’s years of serving his country in the U. S. Air Force the family moved to Plainview where they farmed for 47 years. They retired in 2007 and moved to Wabasha to be near their family.
 She was a member of St. Felix Catholic Church and a former member of St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Plainview where she was active with its Council of Catholic Women and where she taught faith formation classes for 25 years. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing with Bill and their time spent on the farm. She especially loved her family and spending time with them.
 Muriel is survived by her husband, William Leisen, Wabasha, MN; children, Cynthia (Allen) Hopper, Coon Rapids, MN, Patricia Lawler, San Luis Obispo, CA, Mark (Nancy) Leisen, Westchester, OH, Karen (Steve) Skare, Plainfield, IL, Brenda Tarazi, Crystal, MN, Susan (David) Wills, Dubuque, IA, Sharon (Tom) Stiner, Wabasha, MN, Matt Leisen, Burnsville, MN, Nick Leisen, Eagan, MN, Rebecca (Doug) Beissel, Apple Valley, MN; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Lester Jacoby, Don (Mary) Jacoby, Wabasha, MN; sisters, Marlene (Clyde) Honermann, Apple Valley, MN, Joan (Eugene) Peters, Elgin, MN, Adella (Ray) Usher, Anoka, MN, Carol (John) Kasper, Annapolis, MD, Barbara (Tom) Barton, Wabasha, MN, Mary (Bruce) Richards, Oronoco, MN; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Jacoby, South St. Paul, MN, Diane Jacoby, Inver Grove Heights, MN; nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Marcella Jacoby, two brothers, Marvin and Lyle Jacoby and son-in-law, James Feilen.
 A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 11:00am at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha with the Reverend Monsignor Thomas Cook officiating. Interment will be in St. Joachim Cemetery in Plainview. Casket bearers will be her grandsons, Christopher and Sean Feilen, Gregory and Brandon Wills, Seth Lamey, Andrew Skare, and Benjamin and Noah Leisen. Family and friends may call at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha on Wednesday from 4-8pm at which time a prayer service will be held and they may call at the church on Thursday one hour before the Mass. Memorials are preferred to St. Elizabeth’s Community Development Foundation, 1200 5th Grant Blvd. W., Wabasha, MN 55981.
